3rd year DESIGN

During the 3rd year DESIGN, the student is encouraged to gradually develop their own investigation projects.

3rd year DESIGN: objectives

The 3rd year DESIGN aims to enable the student to:

  • assert themselves not as simply a creative person, but as a creator by revealing the issues of their undertakings;
  • invent their own work methodology by liaising with the teachers who are accompanying them in the development of both their ability to develop a critical analysis and to widen their field of artistic experimentation and theoretical investigation;
  • organise and progressively elucidate the problematics underlying their art work;
  • reveal the singularity of their work through the progressive initiation into design research.

3rd year DESIGN: course programme

The courses in the 3rd year DESIGN include:

  • theory classes (history, history of art and design, sociology of design);
  • methodology workshop;
  • project monitoring;
  • experimenting in exhibiting work (show-off).

At the end of the 3rd year DESIGN, the student will have obtained the credit units (CUs) required to take the exams for the DNAT. These exams consist of presenting work to a jury. For this presentation the student will show:

  • work produced for a project accompanied by a written document analysing the issues addressed;
  • a selection of the art work produced throughout the cursus as well as elements developed during the placement.
